⚠️ Common Test Traps
- "No room to stop" → Swerve — don't just brake harder
- "Stop fastest" → Both brakes — not front alone, not rear first
- "Brake while swerving" → Wrong — brake before or after only
- "Following distance" → 4 sec; 5+ in poor conditions
- "Made eye contact" → Driver still may not yield
- "Windshield = eye protection?" → No, not a substitute
⚠️ More Test Traps
- "Curve ahead, too fast" → Slow before — not hard mid-curve
- "Lane splitting" → Illegal in South Carolina
- "Chased by a dog" → Slow, downshift, then speed away
- "Deer in the road" → Stop before you reach it
- "Carrying a passenger" → Bike reacts slower — ride slower
- "Three-wheel motorcycle" → No Class M license needed
🚨 Emergency Situations
- Front wheel locks → Release the front brake, then reapply
- Rear wheel locks → Keep it locked until stopped (if straight)
- Stop in a curve → Straighten the bike, then brake
- Front tire flat → Steering feels heavy; keep straight
- Rear tire flat → Back sways; ease off the throttle
- Tire goes flat → Hold grips, keep straight, edge off the road
🌧️ Surfaces, Weather & Night
- Oily center strip is slippery only when the road is wet
- Slippery surface: slow first, no sudden moves, both brakes gently
- Cross parallel seams or tracks at about 45 degrees
- Cross railroad tracks straight, within your lane
- Crowned road: less lean available — slow down
- Night: ride slower and open a 4-second-plus gap
🏍️ Motorcycle Control
- Countersteer: press left grip → lean left → go left
- Use both brakes every stop — front gives 70%+ of the power
- Corner in four steps: SLOW · LOOK · PRESS · ROLL
- Slow tight turn: lean the bike only, keep your body upright
- Stay in first gear while stopped — ready to move out
- Head-check your blind spot before every lane change
🍺 Alcohol & Impairment
- Adult BAC violation0.05% or higher
- Under 21 (zero tolerance)0.02%
- Refuse a BAC test6-month suspension
- Sobering upOnly time lowers BAC
- You can be convicted of impaired riding below 0.08%
- Some prescription & OTC medicines impair riding too
🎯 Last-Minute Before the Test
- Both brakes to stop — front brake = 70%+ of power
- Every curve: SLOW · LOOK · PRESS · ROLL
- Press the grip toward the turn to lean (countersteer)
- Brake OR swerve — never both at once
- Follow at 4 seconds — 5+ when wet, fast, or at night
- Helmet & eye protection under 21; headlight always on
- SEE = Search, Evaluate, Execute · lane splitting is illegal
