About the Wyoming Motorcycle Knowledge Test

The Wyoming motorcycle knowledge test is the written exam you must pass to earn your motorcycle permit or licence from the Wyoming Department of Transportation. Score 20 of 25 correct (80%) to pass. Every question in this practice test is drawn from the official Wyoming Motorcycle Manual (2021) — the same source the real exam is built from.

The exam covers the core riding topics Wyoming expects every rider to know: motorcycle controls, protective gear and the helmet law, lane positioning, turning and swerving, braking, hazard awareness, riding on slippery surfaces, carrying passengers and cargo, the effects of alcohol, and handling emergencies on two wheels.

How to Use This Wyoming Practice Test

This simulator gives you exam-style questions five at a time, scores you instantly, and explains every answer with a reference back to the Wyoming motorcycle manual. To get the most out of it:

One Wyoming rule worth knowing before test day: Wyoming requires every motorcycle rider and passenger who is a minor (under 18) to wear approved headgear. Riders 18 and older are not required to wear a helmet, and Wyoming law does not require eye protection.

Source: Some test details are confirmed by the state agency; the rest reflect the consensus of major rider-education sources. WYDOT confirms all written tests require 80%; the 25-question count comes from third-party sources. Wyoming's manual is WYDOT's own document — it teaches SIPDE (not SEE), helmets are required only for minors, eye protection is not required by law, and motorcycle applicants may take the written test twice in one day.
