What to Bring to the SOS
For a first-time permit or license application:
- Segment 1 Certificate of Completion (for under-18 applicants)
- Proof of U.S. citizenship or legal presence
- Proof of identity (original documents only)
- Social Security number (card or letter of ineligibility from SSA)
- Two proofs of Michigan residency
- Parent/guardian present if under 18
- Payment for applicable fees
