✅ Remember This Answer
- Quick stop? Use both brakes together
- Front brake? Squeeze firmly — never grab
- Curve? Slow, Look, Press, Roll
- To lean/turn? Press the handgrip toward the turn
- Swerve? Brake before or after — never during
- Slow tight turn? Lean the bike only, body straight
✅ Remember This Answer (2)
- Starts to rain? Ride in cars' tire tracks
- Railroad tracks? Cross straight, within your lane
- Tailgater behind you? Change lanes and let them pass
- Cut reaction time? Cover the clutch and brakes
- Daytime visibility? Headlight on — 2× as likely to be seen
- Hazards on your left? Ride in path 2 or 3
⚠️ Common Test Traps
- "Stop fastest" → Both brakes — not front alone, not rear first
- "Front wheel locks" → Release the front brake immediately
- "Rear wheel locks" → Keep it locked until fully stopped
- "Brake while swerving" → Wrong — brake before or after only
- "Made eye contact" → Driver still may not yield
- "Following distance" → 4 sec for new riders; 5+ in poor conditions
⚠️ More Test Traps
- "Curve, going too fast" → Slow before the turn, not mid-curve
- "Lane sharing" → A car and a motorcycle each need a full lane
- "Chased by a dog" → Slow, downshift, then accelerate away
- "Larger animal (deer) ahead" → Stop before reaching it
- "One drink before riding" → It can still affect your riding
- "Carrying a passenger" → Ride slower, slow earlier, bigger cushion
🚨 Emergency Situations
- Front tire flat → Steering feels heavy; hold grips, ease off throttle
- Rear tire flat → Back jerks/sways; keep a straight course
- Stalled on tracks, train coming → Get off, move toward the train
- Front-wheel skid → Release the front brake, then reapply
- Rear-wheel skid → Keep the rear brake locked until stopped
- ABS stop → Full pressure on both brakes; expect pulsation
🌧️ Surfaces, Weather & Night
- First half-hour of rain is the most hazardous
- Slippery surface: slow before it, no sudden moves, both brakes gently
- Cross parallel tracks or pavement seams at 45° or more
- Night: ride slower and open your following distance
- Night: high beam when not following or meeting a car
- Cold weather lengthens reaction time — slow down, add space
🏍️ Motorcycle Control
- Friction zone = where clutch starts sending power to the rear wheel
- Use both brakes every stop — the front gives 70%+ of the power
- Corner in four steps: SLOW · LOOK · PRESS · ROLL
- Countersteer: press left grip → lean left → go left
- T-CLOCS = the pre-ride inspection, done before every ride
- Each lane gives a motorcycle three paths of travel
🍺 Alcohol & Impairment
- Legally intoxicated (adult)0.08% BAC
- Under 21 — DUI level0.02% BAC
- Body clears alcohol~1 drink per hour
- DUI 1st offense fine$300 minimum, up to $1,000
- Impairment begins with the first drink
- Only time sobers you up — not coffee, a shower, or exercise
🎯 Last-Minute Before the Test
- 16 of 20 correct (80%) to pass
- Both brakes to stop — front brake = 70%+ of the power
- Every curve: SLOW · LOOK · PRESS · ROLL
- Press the grip toward the turn to lean (countersteer)
- Brake OR swerve — never both at once
- Follow at 4 seconds — 5+ when wet, fast, or crowded
- DOT helmet + eye protection always; headlight always on
