📋 What to Bring to the NCDMV Office

One primary identity document — certified birth certificate, valid U.S. passport, or permanent resident card
Your Social Security number (card, W-2, 1099, or pay stub showing full SSN)
Two documents proving North Carolina residency — utility bill, bank statement, rental contract, or mortgage statement dated within the last 60 days
Proof of lawful presence in the U.S. (e.g., valid visa, I-94, or permanent resident card if you are not a U.S. citizen)
Parent or legal guardian present to sign the application if you are under 18
Driving Eligibility Certificate from your school plus proof of completed driver education (30 hours classroom + 6 hours behind-the-wheel) if you are under 18
Payment for your fee — $25.50 for Limited Learner Permit, $6.50 per year for Class A/B/C licence; call your local office to confirm accepted payment methods
Corrective lenses if you wear them (required for the vision test)
If you're a new North Carolina resident, you have 60 days to obtain a North Carolina license (30 days for a CDL)
