📋 What to Bring to the SCDMV Office

Proof of U.S. citizenship or lawful presence — original birth certificate, U.S. passport, or acceptable immigration document
Proof of identity — document with your full legal name and date of birth
Social Security number — Social Security card, W-2, paystub, or SSA letter
Two proofs of South Carolina address — utility bill, lease, bank statement, or similar (each must show your name and SC address)
Completed Application for a Beginner's Permit, Driver's License, or Identification Card (SCDMV Form 447-NC)
If under 18: Consent for Minor form (SCDMV Form 447-CM) signed in the presence of an SCDMV employee or agent by a parent, legal guardian, or approved adult
Glasses or contact lenses if you wear them — a vision screening is required (20/40 corrected in at least one eye)
Payment — check, money order, cash (at many branches), or credit/debit card
