Create or sign in to your AZMVDNow account and begin a driver license application. Arizona offers Permit Test @ Home, so many first-time applicants take the written test online. You can also schedule an appointment at an MVD or Authorized Third Party office.
Bring originals of acceptable identity documents. For a Travel ID (REAL IDβcompliant), you must also prove your Arizona residency with two documents.
A vision screening is given at the office or through an Authorized Third Party. Pass the Arizona MVD knowledge test with at least 80% (24 correct out of 30). Male applicants under 26 automatically consent to Selective Service registration as part of the application.
Instruction Permit: $7. Restricted Instruction Permit: $3. Motorcycle Endorsement: $7. Payments accepted in cash, credit card, cashier's check or money order made payable to "Motor Vehicle Division."
At least 16 years old, have held your Arizona instruction permit for at least 6 months, and complete the required driver education or supervised-driving hours.
Schedule a road test appointment at AZMVDNow.gov. Check multiple locations for the earliest opening. Road tests may be suspended in extreme weather. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (auto-drive, parking assist) must be OFF during the test β all maneuvers must be performed manually.
Provide your own vehicle in good operating condition: working brakes, brake lights, turn signals, horn, intact windshield, inside and outside rearview mirrors, tires in good condition, operational driver and passenger windows, working doors, current registration, and current Arizona liability insurance. If the vehicle is a 1972 model or newer it must be equipped with seat belts that fasten properly.
