💰 Driver License Fees

Hawaii driver license fees are set by each county and depend on the license duration (renewals can run 4 to 8 years), age, and whether the license is Real ID compliant. Contact your county Driver Licensing Office for the current fee schedule before your appointment. Many offices accept cash and check; card acceptance varies.

📋 What to Bring to Your County Driver Licensing Office

Hawaii's Real ID rules require originals or certified copies. Names must match across all documents — bring a connecting document (marriage certificate, court order) if they differ.

Legal name, DOB, legal presence: Birth certificate or valid U.S. passport
Social Security number: Social Security card (or proof you were never issued one — request a limited-purpose license)
Hawaii principal residence: TWO documents — utility bill, telephone bill, bank statement, medical statement, etc., each showing your name and current Hawaii address
Parent/guardian consent if you're under 18, from each living parent or legal guardian (unless married or emancipated)
Driver's education certificates — classroom + behind-the-wheel (required for the provisional license)
Payment for the county fee — cash or check accepted; confirm card acceptance ahead of time
Corrective lenses if you wear them — a vision test will be given
