📋 What to Bring to the RI DMV Office

Certified birth certificate, active passport, RI/government ID, or resident alien card (photocopies are not accepted)
Two (2) proofs of Rhode Island residency (utility bill, bank statement, lease, etc.)
Driver Education Certificate of Completion — 33 hours (if under 18)
Application for Limited Learner Permit (LI-1 form)
For under-18 applicants: a parent, legal guardian, foster parent, or adult spouse who qualifies as a supervising driver (21+ and licensed at least 5 years) — they must sign the application in person or have it notarized
Corrective lenses if you wear them — vision standard is 20/40 with corrected lenses
Permit fee — cash, check, money order, or credit card (no third-party checks accepted)
For the road skills test: original permit, signed/notarized 50-hour driving log, supervising driver's license, valid RI registration and insurance, and a valid inspection sticker
